2021.10.16 21:00 tubrok98 If DeFi wasn't that seriuos, why would banks and entire governments be fighting it?

To anyone doubting DeFi and it's capabilities, you should consider that governments wouldn't waste time, energy and resources trying to fight it. But as we recently saw with China banning crypto mining and the SEC fighting DeFi, it's a too concern for most governments right now.
Governments see that people will inevitably make the move to DeFi. Why would anyone settle with a maximum of 2% APY at a bank after they find out about platforms like UniSwap that offer MUCH higher APYS or platforms like Ramp that offer zero interest on lending. Banks simply can't compete with that and when banks lose power, this translates to the government losing power. DeFi will take over eventually, just watch.

2021.10.16 21:00 _m0ma_lu1gi Resetting levels to their original state in the level editor

I was messing around in the level editor with a level I got off the steam workshop and I messed it up to the point where it's unplayable and accidentally saved the changes. I tried removing the level and redownloading it but that didn't change anything. Is there a way to reset a level to its original state? I would like to play this level again.

2021.10.16 21:00 Successful_Apple491 What system has the smallest model count?

So far it looks like Sharp Practice is the smallest, but I'm curious about others. SP is what, 30-80? I'm curious if there's any napoleonic system that is more like a kill-team style, focusing more on individual models rather than unit movement. Just curious! Thanks all!
Ps: painted my first British infantry unit last night! He looks absolutely god awful but I learned a lot, so I'm excited to try another later today!

2021.10.16 21:00 Vaylx How to think about saving fetch results to a variable?

Hey folks,
I've been trying all day long and have every stackoverflow link related to this topic purple-colored and still can't figure it out properly.
Trying to save the result of a fetch call to a variable. I am able to run multiple calls and get the data to display in my terminal, but I can't get it assigned to a variable (an object).
Here's the (relevant) code:

let cryptoData = {} // my empty object function fetchPrices() { for (let cryptoPair of cryptoPairs) { fetch(`https://api.cryptonator.com/api/ticke${cryptoPair}`) .then((res) => res.json()) .then((data) => console.log(data.ticker)) // how can I save this data in my cryptoData object created above? I am getting the data I want. .catch((error) => console.log("ERROR!")) } } fetchPrices() app.get("/homepage", (req, res) => { res.render("home.ejs", { cryptoData }) }) // server app.listen(3000, (req, res) => { console.log("Server...") })
I kind of understand the concepts behind async code but I can't for the life of me reconcile it with proper syntax and how to actually code it out.
Forever grateful for whoever can explain it to me like I'm 1 year old.
Thanks.

2021.10.16 21:00 OGPotatoSalad [Breeds] Hiking Companion with an Off Switch

1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?

* I’ve always had labs growing up, but neither my wife or I have had dogs as primary care givers.

2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?

* Our preference is to go through a breeder.

3) Describe your ideal dog.

* We want a dog who is excited to join us on adventures (hiking and camping especially), but has an off switch. We want our dog to be affectionate with us, friendly with strangers, at least fairly easy to train.

It would be great if the dog could eventually be comfortable staying home alone while we work, but this doesn’t have to be a deal breaker as we can either bring the dog to work in the future or arrange for someone to check in on the dog.

We also want to dog to not be overly messy / shed a ton.

4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?

* Considering the desire for less messy dogs, we’ve considered PWDs and standard poodles. Both seem to come close to matching our ideal dog. We also love labs, with the one downside we can see being the shedding. I’m not sure if the shedding rules them out, but it’s a concern.

Definitely open to suggestions for other breeds, though!

5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?

* Basic obedience for sure, with some more advanced tricks as well. Would be nice to be able to train the dog to walk off leash as well, but that isn’t necessary. We work in a small physiotherapy clinic and would also be interested in having a dog well trained enough to come to work with us without being rambunctious or aggressively demanding attention from clients.

6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?

* We don’t have any plans for this type of thing.

**Care Commitments**

7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?

* We’ll be able to prioritize walking / playing with the dog before and after work for sure. And when we’re home from work (generally from 4pm onwards) we’d be hanging out with and interacting with the dog. Some of that time will be active things like walking / fetch / training, but also just reading and lounging.

8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?

* I don’t think committing to 1 hour of exercise will be hard for us to manage. We can go for walks, jogs, play fetch, play in the house. On weekends in non-wintery months we’ll also regularly go for hikes (we live surrounded by mountains). We live a block away from a swimming hole, so we can also take our dog there easily.

9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?

* Brushing the dog is no problem, though we’d prefer not to have to make this a daily activity. For grooing beyond that, I think we would take them to a professional groomer.

**Personal Preferences**

10) What size dog are you looking for?

* Medium to large. We’re open to bigger or smaller, but I imagine the ideal size for us to be between 45-70 lbs.

11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?

* Not a fan of any of the above, so the less the better! But these don’t have to be dealbreakers for the right dog.

12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?

* Would be very nice.

**Dog Personality and Behavior**

13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?

* Snuggly for sure, though we’ve got no problem with the dog wanting to lounge on the opposite side of the couch if they prefer. But we wouldn’t want the dog to regularly choose to hang out in a different part of the house than us.

14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?

* Eager-to-please

15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?

* It’s fine for the dog to bark to alert us, but we wouldn’t want the dog to lose their mind when this happens. And it isn’t important to us that our dog be an intimidating guard dog.

16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?

* No.

17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?

* Aggression to people or animals.

**Lifestyle**

18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?

* This depends. We can potentially take the dog to work with us. Otherwise, if the dog can manage being home alone, the typical weekday would have the dog being alone about 7.5 hours. And while it would be great for the dog to be able to handle this, if the dog can’t, we’re willing to find ways around this (either us coming home at lunch, or having a neighbour check in, etc).

19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?

* OIt’s only my wife and I, and we both have the same dog preferences.

20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?

* No

21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?

* No kids at home at the moment, though we’re likely to add a little one in the next 2 or 3 years. If the dog ends up coming to work with us then it would interact with kids most days (supervised, though).

22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?

* No.

23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?

* We live in a small mountain town in BC, Canada. We’re not aware of any specific laws banning any breeds here (at least no breeds we would be considering).

24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?

* Summer will regularly get into the mid-30’s (celcius), and winters -10 or so.

**Additional Information and Questions**

25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.

* We live in a house with a 0.5 acre fenced yard.
